The Arte and Science of Search Engine Optimization

Evaluation Criteria

Evaluation Criteria for Web Design

Though it is perhaps one of the most evident features of a website, the design is not always given as much thought it deserves. The design of a website is intricately intertwined with not only its appearance but also its effectiveness. Web design has a lot to do with making the website efficient and convenient to use without losing the visual appeal of it.

A good web design firm needs to keep this in mind and should be able to balance the art of functionality and appearance without getting carried away by either. The design of the website should, first and foremost, convince people to do what you have brought them there for.

topseos assesses the top web design firms through a rigorous evaluation system. A series of processes and questions allow us to identify those firms who truly excel in their performance. We will contact at least three of the firm’s clients for feedback about performance and services.

A few questions that we may ask clients of a web design firm to gauge their worth are:

General Queries:

•    What type of needs analysis was conducted before work initiated?
•    What type of a ROI were you anticipating, what was achieved and in what time frame?
•    What was your total investment?
•    Rate your overall experience (1-10; 10 being the highest).

Project Specific Queries:

•    What form of planning and strategy was undertaken by the agency before they started on your project?
•    Do your pages pass W3C standards?
•    Were your pages designed in CSS?
•    Does your website have a search engine friendly design?  What components of your design and strategy included SEO?
•    How long did it take the agency to craft out your design?  For how many pages?
