The search sites see these links as the most difficult to attain, and so reward them with the highest possible value, ranking your site higher. If you look at all the top 10 sites for your market, and then check out their back links with the "Yahoo Site Explorer" tool, you'll be able to see that every single one will have a varying degree of these quality links.
