Website Design Challenge - An SEO Case Study

Posted by: Jan 26, 2010

Case Study Summary

As a challenge to ourselves and other local website designers, Texas Innovative Technologies has designed an experiment to test our web designing merit and skills. The idea is to design a completely fictitious website from scratch that incorporates content that will compete against existing websites for certain search terms in the local market....

Description:

Texas Innovative Technologies will market the website using social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook under the disguise of the fictitious "company." Two outside judges (Pearce Smithwick from TechCaddie  and Mike Rigsby) will grade and measure the progress of the website in search engine results for one month. The URL of the website will be kept secret from the public until completion of the experiment in order to preserve the sanctity of the results. At the end of the case study, the identity of the website will be revealed along with the findings from the experiment.

The rules are simple:

* Create a fictitious company that offers local services
* Register a new domain name and create a website for the company
* Graphics, photographs and style will be satirical in order to discredit the company
* Create and optimize textual content to compete against local companies
* The judges will have access to the website URL, targeted search terms, Google Analytics and live statistics
* Texas Innovative Technologies can only advertise and market the website under the disguise of the fictitious company
