I've always been interested in writing and technology.

So it's probably no surprised that I'm involved with Internet Marketing.

But going back to the beginning.

* Education

I started out studying electrical engineering and computer science at Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio, USA, in 1990.

Midway through the course, I switched to English writing and psychology (a small switch).

It was enjoyable and probably showed itself when I graduated in 4 years with high honors and in the 11th percentile of my cohort.

Along the way, I had the opportunity to take on internships at a communications consultancy and a non-profit organization.

I also learned to spell "labour" as "labor" and "mechanise" became "mechanize". I learned to refer to a car "boot" as a "trunk" and a "bonnet" referred to the front of the car, rather than a lady's headgear.

I came back to Singapore, went into the military, was sent to the airforce for training, given the appointment of an operations specialist and entered the workforce.

* Singapore Press Holdings

My first job was with one of Southeast Asia's largest print media group, Singapore Press Holdings, where I was a content developer and web team leader managing their Internet division, Asia1.

* My brush with the Internet (circa 99-2001)

During my Asia1 stint, I managed the Business Times portal (Singapore's largest business daily). I put up several portals, including ones on equities, unit trust, technology, business awards.

I also had the opportunity to be part of the panel for the Accenture-Business Times inaugral Enterprise 50 dotcom awards. (the food at the banquet was superb!).

* The Internet goes click, click, click, boom!

The Internet division was founded and went public about the same time as Yahoo!, however one key difference was that they didn't have a clear monetization strategy in place.

The division raised about $450 million during it's IPO in 2000 and subsequently was taken private again a year later. Luckily, I'd moved to the newspaper side of things before it even went public. I guess you could say I saw the "perfect storm" coming.

* Content creating for a living

Along the way from 1997-2001, I had the opportunity to document the rise and fall of the dotcoms. And covered the semiconductor, micro electronics and technology sectors too.

It was an interesting time, I had the opportunity to rub shoulders with Microsoft's Steve Ballmer (during the launch of Office 2000 in Redmon, WA), with Bob Young of Red Hat Linux when he dropped by in Singapore (I love the signature red fedora) and Al Shugart (founder of Seagate Technology).

I guess the coolest was meeting with the lead CGI guys at Lucasfilm when they were talking about the SGI rendering for the Phantom Menace and the MIT Media Lab director when he was talking about next gen web services (I'd guess you'd call it Web2.0 these days)

In 2001, I was one of three finalists for Singapore Press Holding's Young Journalist of the Year.

I left shortly after to pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations.

* Sunlabel Pte Ltd

I helped operate Sunlabel Pte Ltd, which produces nutraceutical products such as Stevia, a zero calorie natural sweetener.

Concurrently, I took on the network administrator role for an engineering design and construction company.

* Nexus Concepts

In 2004, I founded my business consultancy Nexus Concepts, that aims to help companies and businesses "Excellerate" their performance. Through a set of systems and methodologies, many organisations will be able to see a tenfold increase in their revenue and profit.

I've also set up the BizExcellerator.com website to share some of these systems.

Following that I helped entrepreneurs start up their business operations and grow their business.

Some of the consulting projects I took on were with:

-Tyem (The Young Entrepreneur Mastery): An entrepreneurship training company started by youth brand entrepreneur Ms Elim Chew.
-Fly Entertainment: An artiste management company started by actress Irene Ang, which has it's footprint in several Asian countries (I had the opportunity to do some acting too.)
-Troptimum: a software developer with tieups to Beijing Tsinghua University (China's equivalent of the MIT Media Labs), for projects relation to their CAD (computer-aided design) and PLM (product lifecycle management) products.

* Current Projects

I continue to head my consulting business, Nexus Concepts, which manages the two content portals:

-InternetMarketingCookbook.com

But what I'm really excited about is blogging and affiliate marketing.

My blog at www.WhoIsAndrewWee.com is focused on blogging and affiliate marketing.

I recently founded the DigitalKeiretsu.com community, intended to be a hub/resource site for Asia-based Internet Marketers.

Our DK forums are starting to grow in popularity.

But obviously whether you're into brick-and-mortar, or click-and-mortar or just pure clicks alone, joint ventures are the way to go.

I've linked up with some of the Asian entrepreneurs, like Stuart Tan who owns Internet Marketing Singapore and Gobala Krishnan, one of the bigger Asian bloggers.

The Asian Internet Marketing community is pretty small here, so I bump into Jo Han Mok and Ewen Chia fairly regularly too.

I was known as the "Go to" guy while I was doing business consultancy, and I'm exploring how I can do that in the online environment too.
