Perform duties to design, maintain, and implement website communications to promote the Library System and its programs and services, creating original content through the use of advanced software tools and artistic design skills and working within the limits of established policy. Essential Functions:
1. Participate in design meetings with customers to determine requirements for new websites, digital products or modifications to existing sites to communicate their defined message through various media and web sources. Analyze customer needs and demands through a variety of means including in person.Listen to customer concepts, determine most appropriate tools based on desired outcome, and provide options and suggestions for communicating and implementing the concept where the message and the reader’s understanding is clarified and enhanced through the design of the digital delivery. Deliver digital content and assist in using digital resources to end users through a variety of methods.
2. Produce storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes for user interface design. Generate and build interface designs to utilize and employ current and future technologies. Use various editing and production software to produce graphics, styles, interactions, layouts, and other elements as required.
3. Design and develop interactive media. Evaluate customer concept for end user platform needs. Use various software tools to produce content by programming, scripting, testing and debugging. Produce original audio and visual elements as needed.
4. Provide front end Web and Mobile development and coding of cross-browser, cross platform languages Create site navigation, structures, and optimize web graphics using various web editing tools. Test for browser compatibility and best practices with a focus on consistency and usability.
5. Create and layout original print-ready designs and creative content for print materials, web pages, signs, advertisements, slide shows, or other creative elements to suit requirements and provide effective communications. Convert artwork files to web compatible files.
6. Monitor changes impacting library customers, identify expected information requirements and initiate the exploration of digital products for the remote user by pushing the limits of existing web technology in order to the create the best possible user experience.
7. Provide maintenance of existing Web sites for content changes or upgrades required, tools and resources to be committed, and due dates.? Train web page authors in the use of HTML tools for content management and coordinate web production with producers and managers. Track, maintain, and report on any range of information or statistics as required.
8. Provide technical support and produce end user documentation for completed projects.
9. Identify and investigate current and emerging trends in technology, in libraries, and in other professions, and evaluate how such innovations may enhance library services. Report on findings and prepare recommendations for utilizing new technologies and ideas for information sharing that are aligned with the goals and values of the Library System.
Other duties may include but are not limited to:
1. Perform or assist with any system operations, under direction, to maintain work flow.
2. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
3. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Perform other related duties as assigned.
