Overview

This robust tool offers clickstream tracking and analysis which is demonstrated in their demo on the website that tracks current visitors to the site, their actions on the site, and a profile of each one that includes the referring page and the search term used if a search engine. Log files are not used to put together analysis and reports.

A product out of the Netherlands, Opentracker has been in business since 2003 and recently came out with an updated version of their tool that expands the number of available languages, as well as other improvements and changes. By using tracking code on your web pages, you can access an incredible amount of information on visitors to your site, as well as view a number of reports aggregating and analyzing the data for specific parameters. Unlike other programs, Opentracker offers a limited number of reports and, although the choices cover what most webmasters would like to see, a few more options might be welcome. The reports are clear and simple to understand even for those who are new to web analytics and tracking.

Demographic data is provided (at least for the United States) down to the city, zip/postal code, and phone area code of a visitor (as well as their ISP and IP address). This level of information can be very useful to marketing efforts. As much as I liked the live demo available on site, it was a little disconcerting to see my IP address as well as the other details of my connection to the Opentracker site up for the entire world to see (or at least those people currently viewing the demo pages) as long as I stayed on their site.
