My husband and I had Josh do our engagement pictures and our wedding pictures and we couldn't be more pleased. Our engagement pictures were beautiful and just what we wanted, and we got them back pretty quickly. Our wedding was June 2017 and we got all of our wedding pictures back in a month and a half! They are amazing and captured our day just like we wanted. His prices are very reasonable and he does great work, i will definitely recommend him to anyone in search of a photographer!

My husband and I had our wedding June 2016. We to were required to pay upfront in full prior as well. Through our numerous email and phone conversations we were assured that it would be achievable to receive a few photos within a week of the wedding to use for thank you cards and to get a sneak peak. Sadly, that was the start of it all, the start of unfulfilled promises. Despite my husband and I's multiple and I mean MULTIPLE MULTIPLE attempts to communicate we barely were able to receive a digital copy of our photos via his website. Josh stated that he had to "honor" photo shoots taken prior to ours which was cause for concern. Not only that, but when my husband and I received a copy of his contract to review it said he has up to 6 months to give us our products; any decent and good photographer will not take longer than 3 months, most I have since talked to do it in a month. I should have said no right than and there. We were ignored for months on end with no communication as we were and are still waiting for our thumb drive with all our photos and the photo album we were promised per contract. The few times we were able to contact him he always said the same thing, "I will get it to you by the end of the week', or I am putting in a photo album order and will have it to you in a week.' He also said that he and his wife just had a baby and hadn't anticipated things being so busy "staying" at home to help his wife. While I myself am a teacher and love kids, he is running a business in which people are trusting him to photograph a very important event that does not happen everyday and that requires a level of professionalism and organization. Not only that, but due to the lack of, no correction no communication, some very simple edits that I would like to have had done to the photos will more likely than not never happen. While he can take good photos, I WOULD NOT hire him as a photographer. He will cause you more problems than what it is worth. His good pricing is not worth the trouble. What was suppose to be a good day in which can be looked back upon and shared with friends and family is forever ruined. It has been a year since our wedding, and my husband and I will never be able to go back in time to our first anniversary and go through our photo album photo to cherish the memories. I fully agree with the other reviews and I hope that no one will have to go through what we all went through. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT HIRE JOSH STOKKA FOR YOUR WEDDING!!!!!!!

Does not deserve even a one star rating. My advice: DO NOT hire this photographer/videographer. I am so disappointed that I have to write this review. Josh takes and edits beautiful photos, he is very talented, but it is not worth waiting NINE or more months to receive them. I was terrified that he had lost my wedding photos and videos because he refused to respond (until legal action was mentioned). NEVER pay someone in full until you are happy with your results. I felt helpless while being ignored for months on end. I also didn't like the fact that I (the bride) felt I had to be in charge of posing group photos. I felt like a bridezilla on my wedding day because Josh wouldn't take control and speak up about who he wanted in which shots. The day felt very unorganized when it came to taking pictures, and I missed speaking to some of my guests because it was taking too long. I am also sad to say I don't have pictures of my husband's family with my family. Very disappointed. A “second shooter” was not provided for us even though we requested months in advance in order to get video and photos from the same ‘company’.

Had wedding photos done in May of 2016 per recommendation of Black Leg Ranch in Sterling, ND. J Stokka Design by Josh Stokka is based out of Bismarck, ND. He seemed very reasonable in prices and with the recommendation I received from the wedding venue, I decided to hire Josh for the wedding. What a mistake.. I have not received any product when I was told pictures generally only take a couple weeks to receive but contract stated the longest amount of time he could take was 6 months. Josh had in his contract to be paid in full a month prior to the event which seemed odd given the idea of paying vendors on the day of the event seems to be more appropriate. Unprofessional and suspicious behavior by poorly responding to emails and phone calls. Do not trust this person with your cherished moments as he is irresponsible and untrustworthy. Highly disappointed with this photographer and would not recommend to anyone. I do not feel he deserves a mere 1 star rating.
