Had a great experience here 20+ years ago and hoped to share it with our grown children and grandchildren. Stopped in to schedule a tour and was told they were sold out for the day...our fault for not planning ahead. But, the two gals working the desk were not friendly or helpful and were more interested in talking with the locals in the shop than assisting us. They told us tours were “iffy” for the next day due to pre-booked tour buses. They said we could take our chances...what the heck?Walked over to the Lake Lure Welcome Center and received info (phone number, departure times, directions, etc.) on the boat tours at Rumbling Bald Resort. The Welcome Center was truly “welcoming” to tourists. Seems Lake Lure Tours’ priority is the more lucrative large tour buses and hiring staff that obviously don’t want to be bothered. Shame.

My wife and I took the boar tour since it was to late to rent a boat. Tour was really cool and I'm glad we did it. Next time we go back we will travel the lake on our own and already know some cool facts.

Would leave a 5 star, but the customer service was majorly lacking. The open sign was out when we got there, but the ladies just stared at us and acted like they were less than thrilled for us to be there. If the building wasnt indeed open yet, the open sign shouldn't have been out then and the door should have been locked.. OR the front desk girls could have been much more pleasant and said something like "oh I'm sorry, we arent open yet".Glad we still bought tickets though. The captains were informative and humorous. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the lake and will probably do it again!

I highly recommend taking a boat tour with Lake Lure Tours. Our boat Captain was John and he was extremely informative and very funny. He knew everything about the history of the lake as well as tidbits about the houses found along the lake. The price is very reasonable and the staff was helpful and attentive. You won’t be disappointed

We were very very very very impressed with the boat ride and especially our tour guide. He was very interesting, very cordial, very respectful, very knowlegable, and very kind. He made the trip wonderful.
