Last night, I stayed up until about 3 or 4 in the morning listening to the oral history Anita conducted for my mom. The exhaustion I am feeling today is worth it; I literally could not stop listening! Anita did such a beautiful job. I have no idea how she covered such a wide swath of "territory" over these four hours. The way that Anita prepared and expertly (and humanely) drew the stories out of my mom was brilliant. I laughed, I cried, I got to know my mom better. I treasure this oral history. This is invaluable (and will be for generations of my family) and I am supremely grateful. Also, my mom was nervous to do the oral history - and absolutely loved Anita. This is no small thing. If I could give any number more stars than five, I would.

Thank you so much for all your hard work and interest on my mother's (Olivia) life history. Chuck and Icried and laughed at some of her life's situations. I've always been proud of my mother but now I valueher so much more. She is truly a treasure to our family and I hope to follow her beautiful example. We worked with Anita for nearly a year putting together a history of a small Jewish community in the lead belt area of Missouri some 70 miles southeast of St. Louis. Her guidance in developing the story of the families involved, complete with photos and personal narratives which she elicited and edited, was outstanding and I believe all involved were highly satisfied with the book that resulted. It is now part of the collection of Jewish history at Harvard's Widener Library, St. Louis Historical Society and the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, to name just a few of the permanent collection sites.

All we can say is that we were overwhelmed! The videos were beautifully done, the music was most appropriate and, according to our three children, we looked great! We don't know how you did it, but the whole experience of Shawki and me seeing ourselves on the video and sharing many experiences that we had never shared with the children was beautiful........... Needless to say, all of them commented how come we hadn't shared these experiences with them. Anita, we both agree that we liked everything about the videos and we wouldn't want to change anything. How can we ever thank you for this wonderful memento to our children and future generations ???Katy Ibrahim

If you have a story to tell that’s important to you, Anita Hecht is the ideal professional to help you. I have has a long public career including a decade of reforming Wisconsin’s juvenile justice system. The Wisconsin State Historical Society wanted a first person narrative account and hired Anita to help me tell the story. Her interviews were well structured, open enough in style so I had range to tell my story in my terms but professionally guided so the process was thorough and efficient. As a bonus, she was absolutely delightful to work with. The Historical Society operates with the highest of standards and it is clear to me why they trust Anita to carry their good name.

My children and grandchildren knew very little of our family history and I wanted to document it, before it got lost. In November of 2014, I gave myself,as a 70th birthday present, an oral history video from Anita Hecht.. The process began with several interviews and a questionnaire, so we could narrow down, what was important to me. I thought about things I had not considered for 60 years. I asked my children, what stories they wanted me to share, and those were incorporated into the video. I spoke of my proudest moments and my most disappointing events. We touched on what I believed was important in life and what hopes I had for my children and grandchildren. The experience was so wonderful, I am considering doing it again in a few years. If you are thinking of having your own or someone else’s oral history recorded, I highly recommend Life History Services. I was interviewed in 2008 by Ms. Hecht as part of a large scale oral history archive she produced for the Wisconsin State Historical Society on Senator William Proxmire. The results were outstanding. She made the process easy and meaningful for me. Plus, the entire archive was well-produced, accurate, and compelling. Five stars at least!

Life History Services produced a video history several years ago with both of my parents. My mom was a bit nervous going into it, as she’s very camera shy and she had no idea what she might talk about, so I wasn’t quite sure how it would go. But Ms. Hecht is so personable, as well as being a consummate interviewer, that my mom was quickly put at ease, and it seemed as if she was reminiscing with an old friend. I am so grateful for the stories and historic details both of my parents have recorded, and thanks to Life History Services, the next generations of my family can also enjoy this wonderful heirloom.
