Overall Feedback:

I signed up for Visistat at a trade show. I provided my credit card to the rep at the booth. I ordered a year of service. Unknown to me, she recorded my credit card information without my permission. I used the software for the year that I paid for it. The interface is good and although I used it religiously each day, I did not gain any additional business from the contacts provided. Here is what you need to know. For the software to work, the visitor to your website must have a private block of IP addresses. This means that only the largest of companies or companies with specialized Internet needs will have what is needed to display on your dashboard. Your average size company probably uses a cable Internet connection and the IP addresses are registered to the cable company (or other Internet provider) and not the actual business visiting you. This means Visistat has no way of finding out who they are. When my year was up, I was thinking of continuing on a month to month subscription. However, without my knowledge, approval or consent, they billed my credit card (which they kept on file without my knowledge) for an entire additional year for $3300! I immediately called them and stated I did not authorized this transaction and that is when the service went from good to terrible. I had to follow up with multiple departments and they each kept pushing me back to the other. Finally, a couple of days later, they refunded $2708.33 to me because I missed a "30 day cancelation notification". Hmmm...seems to me that IF that were true, the penalty would be $275, not $591.67. They also billed me for extra time and disabled my service. They refused to answer and help me, so I had to dispute the charge with Amex. Overall, if you are looking to find huge companies that might visit your website, then this software would work. Just be very careful about the terms and do not commit to a year or any type of automatic renewal with them. Otherwise, if you are searching for small business, medium size business, or home users, then it probably will not work very well for you. Overall I am extremely disappointed with their ethics and billing policies. Last tip, you can hire any decent web programmer to capture the IP addresses of visitors coming to your website and check the name against the ARIN registry. This will give you the names of the companies. This should take them under 2 hours to create, thereby delivering about 75% of the value of this service.
