This is the site of the former Whitefriars Fire station Built in 1896 this building is located on the east side of Carmelite Street a short distance north of the River Thames in the City of London.A plaque inscribed, "This stone was laid by William Urquhart EsqChairman Fire Brigade Committee London County CouncilMarch 19th 1896" can be seen at front of building..Address 9 Carmelite Street London EC4It served as a fire station until 1964.
