Speaking on my experience as an intern. If you are fresh out of college, looking for a career in graphics and animation DO NOT COME HERE. I came in under the impression I would learn new things, such as how to animate mouth movements and sync them with words. For the first month I didn’t even do any animating. I punched holes in line work paper. Actually I was told buy Fred himself I would be taught. I was never taught this. It was never even brought up again. I worked on an in house project most of the time but was told if they had a commissioned project I would get to work on it, maybe even make a little bit of money. In the 6+ months I was there there were at LEAST 3 commission projects and I wasn’t invited to participate in any. When I finally left because I was tired of being treated poorly and also found full time work, I went in the week get to back up my files I had worked so hard on. I worked on backgrounds for their in house project for the last 3 months there. I walked in, and the head intern had a girl training with her to work on backgrounds for a big commissioned project. How convenient. They take advantage of the fact you are young and desperate to learn. The part that is most upsetting is, regardless of how long I worked there or how hard I worked on the projects given to me, I did not get any leverage applying to graphic art companies in the area having them on my resume. Thanks animatus, for ruining my passion for animation.
