The non-profit that I worked for was developing a video to raise awareness about mental health issues in the military. When soliciting proposals for this project, Rich and his team at BDP by far had the best approach. In order to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, the video would include interviews with real service members and family members talking about their personal struggles with mental health, depression, PTSD and alcohol use disorders. Having close family members in the military, I know it can be difficult (to put it lightly) to get them to talk about their experiences nonetheless the unique stressors of military life. I knew that BDP had a very difficult task in front of them. However, Richard has such an amazing way of slowly drawing out an individual's personal experience. He was able to get the interviewees to share some very personal, touching and sometimes traumatic events. More than a million copies of the video have been distributed worldwide. Also, we often received feedback from service members and family members with comments like, “I watched this video and I could see myself in these people. . . It played a key role in me taking that next step and getting help.” After our initial experience with Richard, we hired him and his team to produce all of our youth suicide prevention videos. Richard is a consummate professional, always delivers on time and on budget, is a joy to work with and most importantly, provides creative and high quality products.
