I teach Economics at Kennedy High School in Sacramento, and each year I end the course with my From Job to Career Project with my seniors. As part of that, I put out several calls to potential guest speakers based on student interest. Many of my students expressed interest in computer science, entrepreneurship and software development, so I contacted Bobby Reed, CEO of Capitol Tech Solutions. He presented this past Friday, and his generosity was much appreciated by all. Some of my more reticent students were thoroughly engaged as he shared the ins and outs of his business. What he offered students in preparing for their first interviews and how to stand out from the pack will help all my students far beyond those with interests in the computer industry. He has expressed interest in coming back in the future, and I will definitely be taking him up on that.
