11 months of our life wasted in a complete disaster. They refused to share the code and work they did. Finally I demanded it, and found out it was unusable. Here it my IT evaluation. Brief Overview:The application is basically unusable by all reasonable standards. It appears to have been cobbled together from multipleLaravel tutorial codebases you can download for free. The user interfaces are confusing and do not even have the most basicof best practices put into place to make things intuitive and easy for users to understand how the application works or whatthey are supposed to do.Defects and Current Problems with the codebase.1) Application is unusable in mobile.When you try to select filters, nothing happens or is show to users. After selecting the tab again and hitting enter you get asecond set of filters that repeat. The application is struck at this point and is unusable. Filters do not work anymore. No wayto change back.2) Null profile in map display. This is for all profiles and it displays the following. This is unacceptable in an application.In an application that lets you place your own data and see other user’s data; it should be able to handle its owndata.Example: When you find a profile, you want to interact with on the map you cannot click on it to show details. It just displays“null” which is an error.3) Email functions do not work. Password resets do not work.4) No admin functions for application. There does not seem to be any way for an administrator to remove users. This isa basic tenant of a web application. There should be a basic role-based admin section for creating staff accounts andmanaging profiles.5) No email verification for users. There is a function we found disabled, but it is unclear whether this works. (emaildoesn’t work to test). This is poor programming. This allows anyone to sign up any user in existence with outverifying the user and that they own the email being used.6) No terms and condition page. Link is dead in the registration process. Users are forced to agree to something theycannot read.23) Date of Birth is a required field to show and cannot be removed. This is an identity theft issue as well as a PCIcompliance issue. Information like this should always be encrypted in the database as well as optional to show to thepublic.24) When searching for friend, map just refreshes with no indication of anything happening or not happening.25) When searching for a friend the results take you to the friend’s profile, not where they are at on the map.26) Profile editing is extremely confusing and does not validate data well.27) Profile defaults to incorrect information. Eg. Everyone is automatically single. No clear indication how to edit this.28) Profile image uploads never finish. No image function works in this application at ALL.29) Searching friend only brings me to their profile. It does not locate them on the map making this a useless feature.30) No way to select multiple activities – system locks you into one view per activity.31) Copyrighted term “Facebook” is present all throughout the codebase. This needs to be removed from the entireapplication and the application needs to be re-pathed and all CSS classes that use this need to be renamed.The above list is most likely not the full extent of what is wrong with the application codebase and deployment. It waswhat we were able to come up with in the allotted time.
