Tyler and Kelsey were absolutely superb in handling my mother-in-law's funeral. Their demeanor was very kind, quiet, helpful, and understanding. They understood their purpose and gave great answers and guidance. They responded extremely quickly to our calls or needs, emails or texts. They were there for us and gave the most excellent service. Some funeral homes I have been to have been somber, dark, and small, but not Houck and Gofus. The rooms in which folks can mingle are open and roomy, very inviting and had just the right color of lighting, which somehow is very pleasant. They were decorated very nicely and in a fashionable, up-to-date style, with comfortable seating and no lack of tissues. The area where the funeral service takes place is beautifully appointed, furnished with comfortable and attractive seating for the guests, and small bottles of water are readily available, as well as other nice touches that just rounded out the experience to make it very comfortable. You could see they were trying to attend to our every need.They offer something I have never heard of being done by a funeral home and that is their Celebration of Life package, which does take a lot of effort on their part, but we so appreciated it tremendously. At first, due to a very limited budget, we were going to forego this element, but I am so glad we decided to celebrate her life one last time. We supplied pictures and talked to them about her, her personality, her hobbies, things she loved, etc., and they put together a fabulous color pamphlet of her to be given out to those who attended, made a personalized attendance book, a collage of the pictures, created a video slide show that ran continuously, and more. We remarked in the end that we were extremely glad we chose to include the Celebration of Life package. I highly recommend them!
