I went in to get the battery on my Alienware laptop switched out. The battery is deeply embedded into the motherboard, so I didn't trust myself doing it without messing anything up. I shouldn't have trusted IMC either, apparently. What should've been a simple job for--as they told me--a guy who was a "master with laptops" ended up being a disaster. Before I went in, both of my RAM cartridges were working fine, allowing me to use both of my cards without a problem. After I got my computer back from IMC, only one of my cartridges was working. I went down from 12gb to 8gb just like that. I use my computer to review games, so I was very disappointed. I even confronted them about it, but they couldn't tell me straight what happened. I know what happened, though. From the way everyone there was acting with me, the way they were trying to get me out the door, the fact that the guy who installed my battery just so happened to "never be there" when I came in... I deduced that this guy messed up my cartridge, and, in return, my whole motherboard. One of the employees there even said that the lever on the broken cartridge was out of place which, to me, suggests mishandling. To get the cartridge working again, I'd have to buy a new (or used) motherboard, which runs about $800 for the Alienware laptop I have. I was just shocked that they couldn't admit to their mistake and at least get me a new RAM stick (I just bought a new 16gb one for $200) to make up for the broken cartridge. Sure, they're great when nothing bad happens. But when one of their own messes up, they'd rather protect them instead of their customer. Heck, maybe the guy didn't even tell his superiors what had happened and played it off like "this guy's computer just broke somehow" (yeah, right, okay). Either way, the fact remains: I brought in my computer--which had no issues except a dead battery--and was given it back with more issues than before I brought it in. Strange how that works.
