Not the greatest place to work at

I worked for michels corporation. I loved the people I worked with but michels Corp doesn’t care about their people. Communications gets nothing they need and we were forced to work in subzero temps to fix broken equipment with none of the necessary tools to do so on our trucks. The divisions that make money are the divisions that get what they want. Because communications doesn’t make money like the pipeline division does they’re constantly cutting hours. And sacrificing g things at their employees expense in order to accommodate the budget allotted. They have a lot of very hardworking intelligent individuals working for them that they take for granted. If your in the right division it might be a great job. But at the end of the day your only a number to them. And they won’t back you for any reason at all if it costs them an extra dollar. When I worked for them, i went to Brownsville for training that required a drug test be take Beforehand. I did the drug test, no problems or complaints. Went to training and was phoned on my way home that the test came back positive. I am not a drug user and immediately called the testing clinic who proceeded to tell me that it tested positive for trace Amounts of a substance known as methadone. The MD asked me if there’s any reason for the positive result and there wasn’t! I have never in my life even seen the substance in question let alone used it. I couldn’t fathom it. There was no way. I immediately called the office at michels back and shockingly told them what the MD said. As well as the fact that I knew it had to be a false positive result and that I would immediately retest, but was informed that I would have to wait until the following Monday to hear back about a retest. I spent all weekend researching anything and everything to prove my innocence when I found my answer! 2 over the counter meds I had taken the day before my test were known to cause false positives for the substance. When I called back the clinic to tell of my findings the MD told me that they couldn’t do a test for the 2 over the counter meds because their labs only test for drugs. And I asked so then you can’t verify that that is not what caused the false positive result then? And he said no he can’t verify that. I told michels the next Monday of my findings. They refused to let me retest. told me I needed to go to treatment and was eligible for rehire upon completion of treatment for a drug that haven't ever used! Very very cold hearted people running that place. Definitely not the “family oriented always got your back” people they make them out to be. Very disappointing.

I Do not like going here. They make you watch a safety video, then ask you to sign a waiver, to free them from any liability of getting hurt. Rich trying to get richer. Otherwise not too bad.

Don’t work for these people. You get hurt on the job and they go straight to termination. This company does not care for you or your family.

This was the worst job I’ve ever had. If you’re not part of their good ole boy network you are treated like garbage. I have personally seen people get fired for getting injured. They hold you hostage once you go out of town and they wouldn’t let people go home for holidays. Upper management have no experience in the fields that they are managing. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I started here. Terrible company. Do yourself a favor and don’t get sucked into this company.
