Client Review on The Second City COMMUNICATIONS

Honestly, I was disappointed. I went to Hamilton the night before and thought King George hit it out of the park...but what happened to The Second City cast since the days of Farley, Candy, Murray, Belushi, Ackroyd, Carroll.....the list goes on forever with your alumni. You guys have produced some comedic geniuses. Andrew Knox seemed to be the only one out of the cast who excelled in the show we watched! Don't get me wrong...they are all talented...but seem to be trying to hard or the writer(s) lost his way on what is true comedy. And who writes an entire song about their vagina?!! Do you know what makes Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGenerous, Steve Martin, Bernie Mac, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby and Jeff Foxworthy in no particular order of humor ranking....All are or were Great Comedians....Do you know what made them stand out and great? Their material didn't make anyone feel uncomfortable...it was timeless and original. The material appealed to all backgrounds. If the best material you can come up with has to do with politics, religion, the male or female anatomy then you've probably lost half the audience. True Comedy and comedy that would be considered timeless is comedy that has no walls, no points of view, no ulterior motives, and no attacks on a group or segment of people. True comedy and comedy that survives history is replayed, repeated and remembered forever and ever...it's comedy that appeals to all. Comedy that is funny to an adult, child or whoever the audience is despite religious, race or political background. The greats of comedy were great because their material was personable and you can relate with the jokes no matter where your from or your background. If you think this review is harsh or I'm being a prude...I'm not. And no, I didn't vote for Trump like so many of the weathered jokes told. We were not the only ones who walked out early due to the material being shallow and dull. I've grown up watching many of the great comedians...and I can tell you it's a whole new level of writing and humor if you can think up one joke that doesn't slander a group of people or doesn't involve a joke that doesn't include male or female genitalia.The Second City can do better. You've produced many of the greats in comedy! Pretend for a second that you're not delivering a show to just one small elitist demographic segment of the country and rather the entire country. Comedy doesn't have to be perverse to be intelligent and funny.
