Being in the industry for over 30 years, I feel I have a bit of an eye for well crafted productions. Chad, and the crew at StoneKap have a unique blend of talents to bring to bear. My experience is limited to their excellent Flite Test series on the web, but with over 300 episodes online now, they are not just a flash in the pan production company. Production values for this series are very high, even with most of the content shot hand held, (ok shoulder mount DSLR), it is clean shooting which is not always easy to do in close quarters on content that is not tightly scripted, and has a ton of detail and cutaway shots. Audio is always well recorded, or if it has problems they are pretty dang good at cleaning it up. Vocals are clear and crisp, and I have seen few if any points where I have to rewind, even when shooting in wind they could barely fly in. For the Look of the show, they shoot a variety interiors, exteriors in wind and snow, and I rarely see a shot that really does not measure up. I am amazed at the ingenuity of their setup, and though they don't spend a ton of money on production equipment, that in no way means their shows are low budget in look or feel. If you can build an LED Light panel from foam core and LED Strips, why would you drop a grand on one from light panels? Editing, is very clean, "no effects for the sake of effects", or falling sheep wipes... continuity is very solid, you never wonder how you got to this scene or step, it is always a very nice linear trip from opening teaser to closing outtakes. I have to admit I have added a few techniques and trick or two from watching the show with an eye towards "why is that scene so easy to understand, when no other show can explain or illustrate it without making a mess of it". StoneKap uses graphics that are well designed and not overused, and this keeps the viewer focused on the message and not the graphics. Branding and Look for Flite Test is clean and consistent, and has evolved from the early episodes to it's current high level. All in all I would recommend StoneKap to anybody needing a small tightly integrated production crew to bring your message to the target quickly and on budget while maintaining a serious eye on a maintaining a high level production quality. Disclaimer:Yes I am a fan of their show, but one of the main reasons I am, is that it is so well produced, and is a joy to watch. It has become one of the few things I actually can't wait to see each week. If it were just another "I got a Go Pro and an iPhone and I am a producer" show I doubt I would last a half dozen episodes. The quality makes the shows watchable and re-watchable.
