I had an old ½" reel-to-reel videotape whose contents looked as though they would never again see the light of a video monitor until I came across VDS via a lookup on the web. I'm from Canada, so there was a bit of a risk shipping this across a border, but no domestic firms seemed capable of this, while an email exchange with VDS revealed a distinct chance the images could be retrieved. The project was a resounding success. The images were better than I expected from the 40-year old tape, and VDS transferred them expertly on to two media forms, all the while keeping in touch with me to ensure the product was what I wanted. VDS is exactly the kind of business I'm eager to recommend!
